Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 July 2026
FloodLens ("we", "us") is operated by Jackson Milburn, an Australian sole trader
(ABN 51 318 772 659),
that provides property hazard and context reports for Queensland. This policy explains
what information we collect, why, and what happens to it. We aim to collect as little
personal information as possible: FloodLens has no user accounts and works without
you identifying yourself.
What we collect
- Search activity — the coordinates and addresses you search or
click on the map, and which report sections you view. This is inherent to
producing a report about a location.
- Usage analytics — anonymous product events (for example
"report viewed", "checkout started") used to understand what works and detect
abuse. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
- Payment information — payments are processed entirely by
Stripe.
We never see or store your card details. We store the Stripe session
identifier and, if you provide one, the email address you enter at checkout,
so we can deliver your receipt and restore your report access.
- Server logs — standard technical logs (IP address, request
path, timestamps) kept for security, rate limiting, and reliability.
What we do with it
- Generate the reports you request and deliver paid access.
- Email you a receipt and an access-restore link when you purchase.
- Detect and prevent abuse (rate limiting, payment fraud).
- Improve the product using aggregate usage patterns.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for third-party
marketing.
Third-party lookups made when you run a report
Some report sections query live external services at the time you run a report.
Those services receive the location being looked up (coordinates or address),
but nothing identifying you personally:
- Queensland Government and council spatial services (zoning, easements,
environmental overlays, flood overlays);
- other supported services listed in the report's source information.
Automated NBN, live suburb-crime and QBCC pool-register lookups are currently disabled.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising cookies. If you purchase access, your access token is
stored in your browser's local storage so your report keeps working on this device.
Clearing your browser data removes it — the restore link in your receipt email brings
it back while your access is still valid.
Retention
- Payment and entitlement records: kept as required for tax and accounting law
(generally 5 years in Australia).
- Product analytics events: normally deleted after 90 days.
- Hosting and security logs: retained for the shortest period reasonably needed
for security, abuse prevention and incident investigation, subject to the
hosting provider's controls.
Access, correction, and complaints
You may request a copy of, correction of, or deletion of personal information we
hold about you (in practice this is at most your checkout email address and purchase
history). Contact us through the support page. If you are
not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian
Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change. The "last updated" date above
reflects the current version.
